The most beautiful thing about Oman is the way this country has managed to maintain its traditional Arabian charm. While Muscat and several other large cities showcase modern high buildings, once you escape to rural areas, there is nothing to remind you of the busyness of life, except maybe for the big white 4WD cars. Omani villages are quiet and clean, and houses look more like rich residential areas. However, you can also find old houses, some of them turned into museums, places where the visitor can imagine how the life of the locals looked like centuries ago.
